Learn the lingo
AKA your 20 page cross stitch terminology reference guide
If you've ever dipped a toe in the world of cross stitch, chances are you've encountered some of the dreaded acrynonms.
Like any online community, over the years the cross stitch world has created it's own little language... and there's a ridiculous amount of confusing acrynonms in that language!
FAD, HAED, OAP, PFO, ORT, TOAD, WISPβ¦
(Yeah, those are all real! )
Despite being a smidge confusing to newcomers, the cross stitch community really is amazing!
With Learn the Lingo in your digital back pocket, you'll feel empowered to confidently jump into Facebook Groups, Reddit, or wherever it is that you like to interact. If you come across an unfamiliar term or acrynonms, just pull up this ebook and give it a quick search!
Learn the Lingo is included with your enrollment in You Can Cross Stitch!

hey there!
Hi! I'm Erin.
Iβm the teacher, author, pattern designer, kit maker, and crazy cross stitcher behind Purple Leaf Designs.
(Itβs just me here, so you wonβt ever see me use a royal βwe.β)
I teach total newbies how to start - and finish - their very first cross stitch project, setting the foundation for a brand new creative + fulfilling hobby.
I love sharing my passion for cross stitch... without all that perfectionism nonsense.
After all, a hobby should be fun!
Have a question?
I've got your answer!
Yes, it's totally possible. Ultimately, it will depend on how much time you're able to spend stitching.
Cross stitching speeds vary heavily from person to person, especially for beginners, but a middle-of-the-road estimate for this project is 20 hours. Some people will be slower, some will be faster.
So, if you're stitching about 90 minutes each day, you'll be able to finish it in two weeks. Before you freak out over that whole "90 minutes" thing - let me remind you: you can totally cross stitch while enjoying your usual Netflix time. Just saying!
There's no set timeframe for this course, so you can't fall behind.
The reason it's suggested that you stitch 90 minutes each day is that in order to improve and learn a new skill, you need to practice and repeat it.
If you can only spend 30 minutes a day, it'll take you a little longer than two weeks, but that's okay! You'll still accomplish the important end goal: a brand-new hobby + a finished project to hang on the wall!
No. This is a beginner level workshop, designed around a beginner level pattern. You're provided a copy of the Geometric Shamrock pattern we'll be stitching, so you don't need to worry about finding your own pattern.
When you're learning something new, simplicity is key. So this workshop teaches the all basics, with no fluff. There are additional stitches + techniques that more intermediate or advanced cross stitch patterns may use that won't be covered in this workshop.
The price of the workshop includes the pattern and instruction, but you'll need all the other physical supplies like fabric, floss, needles, a hoop, felt, glue and a few other things.
There's a full materials / shopping list provided as soon as you enroll.
The supplies may cost around $35USD. It may be more if you're shopping online vs. in store. Again, this estimate is in USD, and based on material prices in the contiguous United States.
The world is a large place, and the price of craft supplies varies quite a lot from location to location. I can't give an estimate for every location. Simply converting the USD price to your local currency may not be enough to account for the difference of prices in your area.
That's the beauty of the workshop - there's an easy way to get answers!
There will be information inside the workshop about how to contact me with any questions. Sometimes I may ask for a picture (or video, if you're comfortable with it) to help me help you.
All student questions are answered within 3 days.
I completely stand by You Can Cross Stitch - my goal is for you to feel confident with your new hobby. I truly believe that if you've read this far down the page, there's something inside telling you that you're meant to give cross stitch a try!
Join the workshop, and if you're not happy for any reason, let me know within 14 days of the enrollment date for a full refund of the purchase price.
Don't see your question answered above? Shoot me an email + I'll personally get back to you!
